SPSSC NEWS

Team Standings and Player Stats and Team Scores through April 26 Games have been added to the "League Standing, Stats, Scores" tab

New 2016 Playing Rules:

1.  Commit Line rules for outfielders changed from 150 feet to 180 feet.

Reason:  Opens up outfield for light hitting Club members.

2.  Pitching Screen added to 50 League.  Pitching Screen rules (both Leagues) are as follows:

A.  Edge of screen must be inside of pitching rubber on pitcher's glove side and may be placed at a reasonable distance in front of the pitching rubber.

B.  For all player at bats, first ball hit off screen is a no pitch.  Second ball hit off screen is an out.

Reason:  For Pitcher safety.

3.  Team "12 Run Flop" rules changed.  We eliminated the "12 Run Flop" rule for 5 innings.  When the next inning is declared the "open" inning by the umpire, the team that's behind by 12 runs after their at bat is concluded will stay at bat and bat first for the "open" inning.

Reason:  Eliminates stoppage of game earlier than game time allotment.

About SPSSC

The South Placer Seniors Softball Club, Inc. (SPSSC) hosts recreational senior softball leagues that play at Maidu Park in Roseville on Tuesday evenings beginning in late March to late September. We have a 50 and over league and a 60 and over league with a large number of tournament players in both leagues. New teams are drafted from our club members each year. SSUSA approved bats are allowed for both leagues.  Use of a pitching screen is mandatory for both leagues.

For 2016, we have 7 Teams in the 50 League and 5 Teams in the 60 League.  All teams make the playoffs.

For those new to the club, please be aware that we only function through the efforts of many club member volunteers and our Sponsors for the enjoyment of playing the great game of softball in this non-profit league.
