The deadline for signing up to play is Feb 28. Our goal to have six teams in each league with 12 players minimum on each team. The schedule plan is to play one practice game, 20 regular games and playoffs for the top 4 teams. So, if you haven't signed up yet, please do so ASAP. Sponsors needed for 2014!
Sponsors are extremely important for the financial stability of the Club and we are extremely thankful for their support. In exchange for a sponsor donation of $300 for the 2014 season, the sponsor will have a team named after it with its name printed on the team’s jersey. The sponsor name and logo will also be added to the club’s web site. Click on the Sponsors tab to access the 2014 Sponsors Application.
Managers needed: We still need 1 Manager for the 50 League and 1 Manager for the 60 League. If you've played in the club for a number of years and haven't yet volunteered to manage a team or fill a Board of Directors position, you can sure help the club now by managing a team. To managea team, please click on Contact Us tab and send an e-mail.
New Player Tryouts: New player tryouts will be held Tuesday night, March 4 at 6:30 PM at Maidu Park on Field 2. New players and Team Managers, please show up early so we can start on time. New players, be prepared to field ground balls and fly balls and take some swings. Wear cleats and bring your favorite bat. Senior Softball bats are approved for our leagues, thus, they can be used at the tryouts.
Team player draft: The Team player draft is scheduled for Thursday night, March 6. I'll send another e-mail with the draft night specifics to those who will be involved in the team player draft. Players will be informed of their team assignment within a few days after the draft.
Season start: We are planning to play practice games on Tuesday, March 25 and start the season on Tuesday, April 1. The schedules will be finalized and commuicated soon after draft night.
The South Placer Seniors Softball Club, Inc. (SPSSC) hosts recreational senior softball leagues that play at Maidu Park in Roseville on Tuesday evenings beginning in late March to late September. We have both 50 and over and 60 and over leagues with a large number of tournament players in both leagues. New teams are drafted each year. SSUSA approved bats are allowed for both leagues. It is our goal to have six teams in each league that will play one practice game, 20 regular season games and playoffs for the top 4 teams. There will be a try-out day for new players in order for the team managers to evaluate their talents for the draft. So, if you’re 50 and older and wish to continue to play the great sport of softball, this is your opportunity to do so!
For those new to the league, please be aware that we only function through the efforts of many club member volunteers and our Sponsors for the enjoyment of playing ball in this non-profit league.
