Click on the League Schedules tab to access the new schedules for both leagues.  The schedules were updated in order for a 20 game schedule to still be in play and for some scheduling issues.  Any future games cancelled are not planned to be made up.

Uniforms/Game Balls will be handed out to Team Managers before start of games on April 8.  New hats will be handed out to new members only.  Existing members need to bring their hat from last year.

The following rule changes were approved for the 2014 season by the 50 and 60 League Managers during the Team draft night of March 6:

1.  Starting bat count changed to 1-1 (was 0-0).  Foul allowed on initial 1-2 count, next foul results in a strike out.

Impact:  speeds up game, should allow for more innings played

2.  Next inning is open inning when game time clock hits 60 minutes (was 55 minutes)

Impact:  potential time increase for game

3.  Runners on first and third can be off bag in foul territory perpendicular to the bag.  Must be between bag and coaches box line.  On fly ball, runner must tag up from bag to advance.  Beware - runner can be tagged out whenever off base for live ball.

Impact:  safety rule for runners from getting hit by batted ball

4.  Substitute hitter can't advance past first base and runners can only advance one base (current is no limitation on runners).

Impact:  Subs are often top players and their hitting skills exceed those of player they are subbing for.  This rule limits sub hitter's offensive output for team that he is subbing for.

Player applications (Player Application tab) are being accepted to be a substitute player for both the 50 and 60 Leagues.  Your amount owed will be based on the amount of games you play, the cost is $6.00 a game.  There's a possibilty that a substitute player can become a permanent team player due to a team losing a player.

For any questions, access the Contact Us tab and send an e-mail.

* We have 6 Teams in the 50 League and 5 Teams in the 60 League that will play a 20 game regular season beginning April 8.  There will be playoffs for the top 4 teams.

The City of Roseville will update the front page of the below web site address by 3 PM on game day if the fields are closed due to weather.  Managers will also be sent an e-mail stating that games are cancelled and this web site will be updated to state that games are cancelled.

The South Placer Seniors Softball Club, Inc. (SPSSC) hosts recreational senior softball leagues that play at Maidu Park in Roseville on Tuesday evenings beginning in late March to late September. We have both 50 and over and 60 and over leagues with a large number of tournament players in both leagues. New teams are drafted each year. SSUSA approved bats are allowed for both leagues.

For those new to the club, please be aware that we only function through the efforts of many club member volunteers and our Sponsors for the enjoyment of playing ball in this non-profit league.
